Search for Neutrino Tau in the Long Baseline Appearance Experiment
نویسنده
چکیده
This experiment is deigned for the appearance search of ν μ − >ντ oscillation in the parameter region indicated by Super-Kamiokande, as the explanation of the zenith dependence of the atmospheric neutrino deficit. The detection is mainly based on the nuclear emulsion technology for the direct observation of the decay of tau leptons produced in ντ charged current interactions. The performance of this experiment is compared with the CHORUS experiment.

EUROPEAN ORGANIZATION FOR NUCLEAR RESEARCH A novel concept for the detection of tau neutrino appearance
A novel concept for the detection of tau neutrinos is presented, potentially suitable for use in a long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment. It relies on the direct identification of the tau leptons produced in charged-current interactions, by imaging the Cherenkov light that the tau generates in C6F14 liquid. In a simple simulation about half of the tau leptons can be successfully identif...

OPERA(Oscillation Project with EmulsiontRacking Apparatus) is a new detector concept, iron(lead)emulsion for a long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment. This experiment would perform an appearance search for υμ−υτ oscillation in the parameter region indicated by the atmospheric neutrino anomaly. OPERA can run at the Gran Sasso Laboratory in the proposed NGS (Neutrino to Gran Sasso) Beam fr...
متن کاملNeutrino mixing and CP-violation
The prospects of measuring the leptonic angles and CP-odd phases at a neutrino factory are discussed in two scenarios: 1) three active neutrinos as indicated by the present ensemble of atmospheric plus solar data; 2) three active plus one sterile neutrino when the LSND signal is also taken into account. For the latter we develop one and two mass dominance approximations. The appearance of wrong...

Search for ν τ appearance via neutrino oscillations in the ν µ CNGS beam with the OPERA experiment The OPERA neutrino detector in the underground Gran Sasso Laboratory (LNGS) is designed to realize the first detection of neutrino oscillations in the appearance mode through the study of νµ → ντ oscillations. The apparatus consists of an emulsion/lead target associated to electronic detectors and...

The unknown neutrino mixing angle θ13 is one of the most important goals in current neutrino experiments. For the next generation of long baseline neutrino oscillation experiments, T2K and NOvA, the precise measurement of neutrino-nucleus cross sections in the few GeV energy range is an essential ingredient in the interpretation of neutrino oscillation signals. Neutral current neutral-pion prod...
